Like much of South Florida, fly fishing in Islamorada changes throughout the year. When conditions become less favorable, the Everglades backcountry continues to provide opportunities for resident tarpon, redfish, and snook, making it possible to enjoy productive fly fishing regardless of what the weather is doing.

During the fall/winter, as the weather cools, the fishery shifts rather than slows down. Winter weather brings excellent opportunities for resident tarpon, redfish, and snook throughout Florida Bay and the Everglades backcountry. Permit and bonefish remain available, particularly during stable weather, and the lighter fishing pressure can make this an overlooked time to visit.

Comfortable temperatures, fewer boats, and the ability to move between the backcountry, bay, and oceanside flats create consistent opportunities for anglers willing to fish whatever conditions the day presents.
